Review Candidate Submissions
Reviewing candidate submissions is a critical step in assessing their qualifications, skills, and overall suitability for the role. This page provides guidance on effectively reviewing applications, questionnaires, and assessments using the tools available in Zamdit.
Applications
Candidate applications include essential details collected via the application form, such as their résumé, cover letter, and custom answers. To review a candidate's application:
- Navigate to the Candidate Details View.
- Open the Application section to view custom answers and the Profile section for predefined fields, including attached documents.
Key Considerations
When reviewing applications, focus on the following:
- Qualifications: Does the candidate meet the mandatory requirements for the role?
- Experience and Skills: Are their skills and professional background relevant and sufficient?
- Overall Fit: Do their answers and profile align with the job description and organizational culture?
If scoring is enabled for the application review stage, assign a score reflecting the candidate's suitability. Include comments highlighting your reasoning and observations, which will support team discussions and ensure transparency.
Rejecting Based on Applications
If the candidate does not meet the requirements:
- Reject the candidate directly from the Candidate Details View.
- Provide a reason for rejection to maintain accurate records and foster transparency.
- Choose to notify the candidate via an automated system email or compose a personalized rejection email.
Questionnaires
Candidate questionnaires include responses to multiple-choice, video, and open-ended questions. These responses offer insights into their problem-solving skills, communication style, and thought processes. Access them via the Questionnaires tab in the Candidate Details View.
Reviewing Video Answers
For video responses:
- Evaluate clarity, confidence, and relevance.
- Assess their ability to articulate thoughts effectively.
- Take notes on notable strengths or areas requiring improvement.
Reviewing Open Questions
When assessing open questions:
- Focus on the depth, originality, and relevance of their responses.
- Look for structured thinking, logical reasoning, and alignment with job expectations.
- Record your observations for team discussions.
Reference Answers
If references provided feedback through the questionnaire:
- Ensure the responses are relevant and align with the candidate’s application.
- Use reference insights to validate the candidate's self-reported skills.
- If a reference submission is missing, document it in your notes and consider following up.
Best Practices for Reviewing Questionnaires
- Apply consistent evaluation criteria across candidates.

- Highlight any standout responses or concerns for discussion during team evaluations.
Assessments

Analyzing Test Results
- Skill Breakdown: Examine scores broken down by skill area to identify strengths and gaps.

When assessing coding answers:
- Evaluate for correctness, efficiency, and adherence to best practices.
- Consider creativity and the ability to solve problems in innovative ways.
- Document any patterns of errors or particularly strong solutions.
Grading Open Questions
For open-ended questions in assessments:
- Look for well-reasoned, structured, and detailed responses.

- Use predefined grading criteria to maintain consistency and fairness.
By following these guidelines, you ensure a thorough, structured, and fair evaluation process, helping your team make informed hiring decisions while fostering a positive candidate experience.
